The records behind your time capsule.
The moon and your birthplace
The moon is a calculated visualisation, not a historical photograph: the SunCalc 1.9.0 solar/lunar position model, evaluated at noon IST. Illumination and phase timing are approximate. The disc uses a standard north-up phase orientation, not the local sky’s tilt. Surface imagery: NASA Science Moon, cropped to the lunar disc. Calculations adapted from SunCalc; BSD-2-Clause licence. This remains an approximate model.
Search covers 547,268 populated places from the GeoNames India extract, downloaded 4 November 2026, including alternate English names. Data: CC BY 4.0. Neighbourhoods and historic or abandoned settlements are excluded. Completeness is not guaranteed; coordinates are place centres. Globe geometry: Natural Earth, public domain; coastlines only, no political boundaries.
Bollywood songs and the price of things
Music uses a small archive of annual radio-chart selections from Keep Alive’s Binaca Geetmala archive and release-year records from Yash Raj Films and music labels. A birth-year song is shown when present; otherwise the music chapter is omitted. A year’s song may have been released later than your birthday. These are not exact-day chart positions. No music audio or lyrics are copied.
Gold: 56 financial-year averages, 1970–71 to 2025–26, for standard gold in Mumbai, from the RBI Handbook dataset served by DBIE. Grocery snapshots: Kerala annual averages for 2000–2003, 2016 and 2023; Mon district, Nagaland, for 2010. Each record links to its government source. Only a basket from the birth year is shown automatically. Its region is labelled; other years can be explored manually. Bread is available in the 2010 basket. Where bread is missing, the third item is open-market Matta rice (2000–2003) or open-market sugar (2016 and 2023), from the same government publication and annual period. No missing values are invented or interpolated.
History, weather and privacy
Selected historical milestones link to the National Portal of India, ISRO or ICC. The archive is selective. Only milestones earlier on or within the same calendar year as the birthday are shown. Weather uses Open-Meteo / Copernicus ERA5 modelled daily values, not station observations (CC BY 4.0). Internet access is required; the free service is for non-commercial use.
Birth details are kept in browser session storage so refreshing this tab restores your story. Close the tab or use “Clear this story” to remove it. There is no server storage or URL sharing. City search loads data from this site. Weather is requested only when you choose it. No accounts or analytics. Fonts load from Google Fonts. This independent experience uses original code and visuals; no BornHere assets or code are reused.
